"An ideal piece of equipment that has a LOT more to offer than just the headphone amp, at a size that you can easily keep in the pocket of your gigbag"
Jonathon Moody • Bass Musician Magazine • November 2014
The smartphone-sized BigHead may be physically small, but it is big on sound and performance, functioning both as an awesome portable bass optimised headphone amplifier as well a superb digital and analog recording interface.
Unlike many consumer electronic digital media players and smartphones which only provide a very small output of around 20 milliwatt to drive headphones, the BigHead has more than 10 times the power. This contributes to a far more exhilarating listening experience with increased resolution and dynamics. Even if you are just listening to music, the BigHead will be a great improvement to your regular headphones, enhancing your listening pleasure and - of course - it is the perfect partner for the PJB H850 Headphones for the ultimate bass dedicated personal monitor system.

As can be expected from a Phil Jones Bass product, the BigHead's basic sound is a nuanced, clean, warm tone with zero noise or colouration - although the simple and responsive 2 band EQ and gain controls will quickly allow you to dial in more aggressive, biting or fatter, fuller bass-heavy sounds... and anything in between.
For digital recording, the BigHead features a pristine analog-digital/digital-analog interface with the finest BURR BROWN digital components providing high speed 48KHz/16-bit conversion. The unit connects to your computer via USB for hassle-free tracking with your preferred DAW or for driving amplifier emulation software with negligible latency issues.
Maybe you just need an analog pre amp... the BigHead can do that too. It will provide up to 12dB of gain and better than 96dB signal to noise ratio. Just use the headphone out jack to feed an amp or mixer.
Fully mobile and ready when you need it, the BigHead is powered by an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is fed by its USB jack, so any computer or appropriate cell phone charger can charge it in less than 3 hours.
With full charge, the BigHead has a battery life of up to 8 hours.
