I bought this after borrowing the basic version from a friend, which I really liked. On the day it arrived our bassist used mine during our rehearsal and he ordered one when he got home because he was so impressed. I bought the unit for improving bass sounds of my recordings which in general it does, however I've found that it takes a lot of playing around to get a well defined natural tone. I found it very difficult to get a tight sound using higher bass settings and most of the sounds that I got using the presence and treble pots were a bit harsh. The overdrive however was great, which was a big surprise for this 6 string player who spent many years trying and eventually failing to get a decent sound out of emulation gear before having to fork out for the real thing... It's good gear and well worth a try.
Just used this to record my Ric. It sounds fantastic straight into the desk. The controls are simple and I found a brilliant sound fairly quickly. The tube emulation is very good, adding just the right amount of warmth and growl and sounding very natural. The controls are very sensitive and offer countless variations. Don't know how I managed without. Problem is I now want to re-record everything I've ever done in the past using this little stunner.
This pedal did magic to my MOSFET Trace rig wich has a very clean sound. I was searcing for a bit more warmth and growl. The Sansamp Bass Driver DI Programmable gave me the sound i wanted only after a few minutes of adjusting the settings. I have olso dialed in a very good slap style sound and a very nice tube like distortion. Im looking forward to taking it to the studio next month.
