Cameron Dawson - Bass Collection Power Bass

Bass Collection & Elites artist, Cameron Dawson, one of the UK's top up-and-coming young bass slingers, has had an amazing year since joining acclaimed brit-soul outfit Mamas Gun in Spring 2013. The 21 year old former student of the Brighton Institute Of Modern Music has appeared with the band to sell-out crowds in Korea, at Indonesia's largest urban music festival, Java Soulnation as well as opening the show for Level 42's on their recent London dates.

And Bass Collection has been with him all the way...

As you can see from these videos, Cam has been using his Power Bass (Islington Blue, with custom Tortoise-shell pickguard) to superb effect on the band's live shows, The Power's funky, low-end snarl and bite perfectly complimenting his effervescent, sinuous and melodic playing... what a sound!!

Live in London, opening for Level 42 @ Indigo2 - London, Sept 2013

Live @ "Java Soulnation" - Jakarta, Indonesia, Oct 2013

Mamas Gun were formed in 2007 by vocalist and songwriter Andy Platts and, over the course of two fine albums ("Routes To Riches" and "The Life & Soul"), their irresistible mix of blue-eyed soul, funky grooves and classic, radio-friendly pop has garnered the band rave reviews and made them a huge act in the Far East.

The band are currently in the studio, completing their new album for a summer 2014 release, where Cameron Dawson has been laying down bass tracks with a trio of Bass Collection instruments... The Power Bass and a pair of Jives - fretted and fretless.

Guitar Interactive

In 2013, GI's resident bass guru, Dan Veall, praised The Jive Bass as a "classic take on a classic".

Dan singled out the finish ("immaculate"), the frets ("absolutely brilliant"), the finish, the newly-appointed Babciz Full-Contact Bridge, the meticulous set-up and the great range of tones available before summing up this "fantastic instrument" as a "a very good bass... for not a lot of money".

Jazzwise Magazine

In March 2011, reviewing the Jazz & Power Basses, Jazzwise Magazine raved that "These instruments offer players of all abilities truly stunning instruments that are more than adequate for getting to grips with the finer points of becoming a working musician".

"These brilliant instruments are a steal at this price point... in fact it's hard to think of any bass range that offers so much quality for so little money".

Guitar & Bass Magazine

In the July 2010 issue of Guitar & Bass, Gareth Morgan declared the Jive & Power Basses "Classy and impressively accurate takes on two classic templates" with "authentic sounds & an excellent level of build quality" awarding them, respectively, outstanding 91% and 90% ratings.

In their subsequent annual review of the year's best instruments, Bass Collection swept the board in the "Basses under £1000" category… The Jive Bass taking the coveted "Bass of the Year" award… with The Bass Collection Power Bass hot on it's heels in 2nd place… need we say more!?
